"Johannes wurde kurz vorm Mauerfall in Thüringen geboren. Nach seinem Studium der Politikwissenschaft an der Freien Universität Berlin arbeitete er mehrere Jahre als Regieassistent bei Spielfilmen von Michael Haneke, den Wachowski-Geschwistern und anderen. 2008 war er Mitbegründer des Theater- und Kunstkollektivs Zweite Reihe und begann, eigene Kurzfilme, Musikvideos und Werbespots zu drehen.

Seit 2014 wird er von CZAR vertreten und drehte Werbespots für Kunden wie die Deutsche Bahn, Adidas, Ricola, Heineken und viele mehr. Im selben Jahr gewann er den deutschen Wettbewerb der Cannes Young Lions, sowie den Preis als bester Newcomer bei Die Klappe. Beim ADC 2018 gewann er Silber für sein Musikvideo „Sind Alpina Weiss“. Ein Jahr später gewann er bei den Cannes Lions einen Bronzenen Löwen für „Instasitter“ von Ibis , sowie einmal Gold, sowie zweimal Bronze für ADAC „Don’t travel with mom“ bei Die Klappe.

Seit 2019 ist er wieder vermehrt im Bereich Fiction unterwegs: Von 2019 - 2022 war er als Regisseur und Co-Autor an der ProSieben/FYEO-Hörspielserie „Makel“ beteiligt. Seit 2021 inszeniert er bis dato vier Staffeln der ZDFneo-Sitcom „Ich dich auch!“. 2025 inszenierte er die Schweizer Comedyserie „Unsere kleine Botschaft“, die ihre Weltpremiere beim Zurich Film Festival 2025 feierte. Zurzeit entwickelt er eigene fiktionale Projekte und versucht weiterhin, die richtige Balance zwischen Fiktion, Werbung und Surfurlauben zu finden."

Johannes was born in Thuringia, Germany shortly before the fall of the Berlin Wall.. After studying political science at the Freie Universität Berlin, he worked for several years as an assistant director on feature films by Michael Haneke, the Wachowski siblings, and others. In 2008, he co-founded the theater and art collective Zweite Reihe and began shooting his own short films, music videos, and commercials.

He has been represented by CZAR since 2014 and has shot commercials for clients such as Deutsche Bahn, Adidas, Ricola, Heineken, and many more. In the same year, he won the German competition at Cannes Young Lions, as well as the award for best newcomer at Die Klappe. At the ADC 2018, he won silver for his music video “Sind Alpina Weiss.” A year later, he won a Bronze Lion at Cannes Lions for “Instasitter” by Ibis, as well as one Gold and two Bronze awards for ADAC's “Don't travel with mom” at Die Klappe.

Since 2019, he has been increasingly active in the field of fiction: From 2019 to 2022, he was involved as director and co-writer in the ProSieben/FYEO audio series “Makel.” Since 2021, he has directed four seasons of the ZDFneo sitcom “Ich dich auch!” In 2025, he directed the Swiss comedy series “Unsere kleine Botschaft,” which celebrated its world premiere at the Zurich Film Festival in 2025. He is currently developing his own fiction projects and continues to maintain a healthy balance between fiction, commercials and surfing holidays.
